We’ve got Threads, but where’s the needle?

The world woke up on 6th July to find another app that spices up our social life. Meta introduced the Threads app, a space where real-time updates and public conversations take centre stage, and it’s even interoperable with other social networks.

Sounds like the future of the internet, doesn’t it?

Here are three things you should know about the platform before you get started:

  1. There’s a 500-character limit, so keep it short and snappy.
  2. You have the option to share a video of up to 5 minutes in duration.
  3. There’s no DM feature yet, so no sliding into someone’s virtual inbox.

Heads up: If you delete your Threads account, your Instagram goes down with it. So, it’s best to deactivate it instead.

And, just so you know, hashtags don’t work here.

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: As a brand strategist/marketer, what should be your scaling strategy?

There isn’t one! And all marketers are as clueless as you are.

Both the app and the people using it are still in good ol’ beta mode. The only difference is that now, with Mark Zuckerberg, over 30 million people are trying to figure out how to make the best use of this space and develop it further. Talk about a wild bet!

But we know one thing for certain. This uncertainty also means there’s immense opportunity knocking on your digital door.

Whether you’re an individual or a brand, hop, skip, and jump onto this platform because:

  • There’s no algorithm set in stone yet, which means you can pop up on anyone’s feed. It’s like a game of virtual surprise!
  • With cross-platform integration, you don’t have to start building your followers from scratch. You’ve already got a head start.
  • Engage in meaningful conversations and share your thoughts across both Threads and Instagram
  • Here’s your chance to be raw and unhinged, and leverage that first-mover advantage to build a thriving community.

Well, that’s all the juicy info we have on the Threads app for now. So, go ahead and thread your way into that needle, capturing the best moments along the way.

Happy threading!
